At Christmas more than ever, it’s tried and tested family recipe I turn to.My best Christmas squares and traybake recipes make a welcome addition to any Christmascookie tray.
I’ve been making most of these recipes since I was a little girl in Canada and they have all been enjoyed by at least three generations of my family. So from my home to yours, with love, here are my best Christmas squares and traybake recipes!
Family Favourite Christmas Squares and Traybake Recipes
Auntie Irene’s Gluten Free Coconut Date and Cherry Christmas Squares are delicious mouthfuls of gorgeous Christmas flavour. I still remember the day I asked Auntie Irene for her recipe! I was ten years old, and I have made this recipe virtually every Christmas since then.
Aunt Dorothy’s Butterscotch Squaresare a super simple to make no bake Christmas squares and traybake recipe that tastes amazing. Aunt Dorothy is a greatcook and always made catering for dozens of people look really easy.
My Mom’s Mincemeat Oat Squares are a tastytwist on traditional mince pies. They are much easier to make too! My Mom was a fantastic cook and I always feel like she’s with me in the kitchen when I make one of her recipes – including all her Christmas squares and traybake recipes!
This vintage recipe for Lemon and Walnut Squareswas in my late Mom’s recipe box. I didn’t find it until after my mom passed away and s it’s typewritten there’s a bit of a mystery about where it came from. What isn’t mysterious is how wonderful these sweet tart squares taste!
For a lovely taste of summer at Christmas, try my cousin Esther’s Blueberry Squares. I use frozen blueberries to make them this time of year.

Great recipes and I should get busy working my way through this round-up. Most of my holiday recipes are ones I’ve used for years. Several of our children live out of state and there would be a mutiny if they came home and didn’t find their favorites.

Thank you, Sandra! Family favourites are definitely important during the holidays – there are recipes I ‘have’ to make every year as well so I totally get it! I usually just introduce one or two new things each year without eliminating any of the old favourites. Of course this leads to lots of leftovers, but I can’t say I mind 😉

I have jars of mincemeat that I canned, so I’ve got to try your recipe for squares. I like the idea of squares to offset all the fudge and cookies that I usually associate with holiday baking.
