Red Sox's Tyler O'Neill: Out until at least Tuesday
1h ago
Manager Alex Cora said Saturday that O'Neill (knee) will remain out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale with the White Sox, but the Red Sox remain hopeful to have him back in the lineup for Tuesday's series opener in Philadelphia following an off day Monday, the Associated Press reports. "If we can take advantage of the next three days and avoid the [injured list], that's what we're gonna do," Cora said.
After being on the IL previously with right knee inflammation, O'Neill was activated Wednesday. However, O'Neill made just three starts before he was removed in Friday's 7-2 loss to Chicago in the third inning, after he had tweaked his knee while tracking down a flyball the inning prior. Though the Red Sox are seemingly optimistic that O'Neill will steer clear of another IL stint, he'll still need to demonstrate enough progress coming out of Monday's off day for that to become a reality. Bobby Dalbec started in right field in place of O'Neill in Saturday's 6-1 loss and could be the main beneficiary if O'Neill continues to miss more time beyond Sunday.

Red Sox's Zack Kelly: Set to open Sunday's bullpen game
2h ago
Kelly is scheduled to start Sunday's game against the White Sox in what's expected to be a bullpen day.
Unless they bring aboard another pitcher from Triple-A Worcester to serve as a bulk reliever, the Red Sox look set to lean on a number of arms for the series finale in Chicago once Kelly exits the game. Kelly recorded one out in Saturday's 6-1 loss and hasn't exceeded three innings in any of his 20 appearances this season between the majors and Triple-A, so he shouldn't be expected to work more than once through the batting order in his first big-league start. Brennan Bernardino, Justin Slaten and Cam Booser are all available on at least two days' rest and should be capable of giving the Red Sox two-plus innings out of the bullpen, if needed.

Yankees' Aaron Judge: Goes deep twice in loss
6h ago
Judge went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs and a walk Saturday in a loss to the Dodgers.
It was a humbling game for the Yankees as a team, but Judge continued his offensive domination of the league, hitting a solo shot in each of the third and ninth innings. The slugger has reached base safely in 33 straight contests, hitting an even .400 (46-for-115) with 17 homers, 39 RBI, 37 runs, four stolen bases and a 32:33 BB:K over the jaw-dropping stretch. Judge leads the majors with 23 total long balls on the campaign and ranks second with 57 RBI.

Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Slugs homer in victory
6h ago
Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk Saturday in an 11-3 win against the Yankees.
Hernandez produced just enough power to poke a solo shot to the right-field porch in the fifth inning, giving Los Angeles a 3-2 lead. The veteran utility man made his third straight start at third base, and he's notched an extra-base hit in each of those games, going 3-for-10 with two doubles and Saturday's homer along with three walks. Max Muncy (oblique) is on a slow ramp-up and figures to be out of action beyond next week, so Hernandez could be in for relatively consistent playing time in the short-term.

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Clubs homer in loss
6h ago
Carpenter went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Rockies.
Carpenter got the Cardinals back within a run with his seventh-inning blast, but they couldn't build on it. Both of his homers this season have come over his last nine games. The designated hitter is at a .200/.294/.317 slash line with five RBI, six runs scored, one double and no stolen bases through 68 plate appearances. Carpenter has seen steadier playing time at designated hitter with Alec Burleson filling in as an outfielder due to the absence of Lars Nootbaar (oblique).

Cardinals' Andrew Kittredge: Handed third loss
7h ago
Kittredge (0-3) allowed three runs on three hits and struck out one over one inning to take the loss and a blown save Saturday versus the Rockies.
Kittredge surrendered an RBI single to Brenton Doyle and a two-run home run to Ezequiel Tovar in the seventh inning, just half a frame after the Cardinals had rallied ahead. St. Louis didn't have another rally in it, leaving Kittredge with the loss. He'd pitched four scoreless innings to begin June before Saturday's slip-up. On the year, he has a 3.54 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 29:8 K:BB with three blown saves and 17 holds through 28 innings. Kittredge remains an important high-leverage reliever, but JoJo Romero has been the Cardinals' most effective setup man and Ryan Helsley remains locked in as closer.
