We conduct a substantial number of tournaments each year, for members only, at each of the several member clubs. Fine prizes are awarded at each tournament.
We are the leading developer, in conjunction with the Kelly Gibson Junior Golf Tour, of young golfers in the city. For this purpose, we conduct a number of junior golf tournaments on the various courses of the area each year.

A tournament is an oriented complete graph. The feedback arc set problem for tournaments is the optimization problem of determining the minimum possible number of edges of a given input tournament T whose reversal makes T acyclic. Ailon, Charikar, and Newman showed that this problem is NP-hard under randomized reductions. Here we show that it is in fact NP-hard. This settles a conjecture of Bang-Jensen and Thomassen.

An isomorphism certificate of a labeled tournament T is a labeled subdigraph of T which together with an unlabeled copy of T allows the errorless reconstruction of T. It is shown that any tournament on n vertices contains an isomorphism certificate with at most n log2 n edges. This answers a question of Fishburn, Kim and Tetali. A score certificate of T is a labeled subdigraph of T which together with the score sequence of T allows its errorless reconstruction. It is shown that there is an absolute constant ∈ > 0 so that any tournament on n vertices contains a score certificate with at most (1/2 - ∈)n2 edges.

For an oriented graph D and a set X \subseteq V (D), the inversion of X in D is the digraph obtained by reversing the orientations of the edges of D with both endpoints in X. The inversion number of D, inv(D), is the minimum number of inversions which can be applied in turn to D to produce an acyclic digraph. Answering a recent question of Bang-Jensen, da Silva, and Havet we show that, for each k \in \BbbN and tournament T, the problem of deciding whether inv(T) \leq k is solvable in time Ok(|V (T)|2), which is tight for all k. In particular, the problem is fixed-parameter tractable when parameterized by k. On the other hand, we build on their work to prove their conjecture that for k \geq 1 the problem of deciding whether a general oriented graph D has inv(D) \leq k is NP-complete. We also construct oriented graphs with inversion number equal to twice their cycle transversal number, confirming another conjecture of Bang-Jensen, da Silva, and Havet, and we provide a counterexample to their conjecture concerning the inversion number of so-called dijoin digraphs while proving that it holds in certain cases. Finally, we asymptotically solve the natural extremal question in this setting, improving on previous bounds of Belkhechine, Bouaziz, Boudabbous, and Pouzet to show that the maximum inversion number of an n-vertex tournament is (1 + o(1))n.
