She was born in the Pleasant Hill Community, Yazoo County, Mississippi on June 23, 1925, raised in the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church and graduated from Benton High School. Because of a government-funded program to train nurses for World War I1, Kathleen was able to go to nursing school. She obtained her RN from the Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

She married Walter Arnold Marx on December 27, 1948 in Clinton, Mississippi and lived in Memphis and over 30 states before coming to Houston in 1958. She worked at Spring Branch HospitalHouston, was active in the Republican Party, volunteered for various charities and was a member of Fair Haven United Methodist Church. Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents, Ell Hood McGinty and Emma Jones; sister, Florence Elizabeth McGinty; brothers, Eli Hood (Buddy) McGinty, Jr. and James Henry McGinty; Brother-in-law, Robert Edwin Marx. MIZELL, JR Emerson Etheridge Mizell Jr, born June 8, 1911, Mr. Mizell owned and operated third generation Mizell Plumbing and Heating Company, first run by his grandfather, William Angelo Mizell, then by his father, Emerson Etheridge until he retired in 1982. Mizell attended and graduated from Central High School in 1930. He won the Tri-State Wrestling Championship. While attending Normal Teachers College, now University of Memphis, in 1930-1933, he was a member of their football team. He was a Mason and a Shriner with The Al Chymia Shrine Temple. During WWII, he and his wife, Marian, lived in the Panama Canal Zone, where he worked as a plumber on many battleships passing through the lock on their way from the Atlantic to the Pacific side.

His family was charter members of Central Ave. Baptist Church. His grandmother and grandfather, donated the land where the church was built. This site was later sold and the new church is now Ridgeway Baptist Church.
