The Eliminate Dream Project (2024)

just played the redux version for a bit and i have to say that it's great!) the plot stays the same, the world is familiar to the players that were on board since the rpgmaker 2000 version, and it's all been overhauled with awesome scripts and quality of life features, like the new "system" menu that combines both "options" and the "exit" button and is generally very handy to have in a game!) some neat little details, like the after battle messages from the main party add a lot more character to the game and have some really humorous bits are also very welcome) the game also expanded some of the pre-existing locations from the old version, like the Circle town - now there's a lot more houses to enter and NPC's to interact with, which is great!) some cosmetic features, as, for examle, the addition of trophies are also welcome - it's also the first time ever that i earned any trophies in a Gamejolt game, too - i'm gonna remember TEDP Redux even more now because of this, jajaja!) the only thing is, upon putting in the game token i received ALL of the trophies the game has, for some reason - that kind of kills the point of them but it's still nice to have them - if the way they were acquired would be fixed then it would be even better, too!) and, finally, the teleport function is the best addition, in my opinion - it's very player-friendly and makes travelling around the HUGE map of TEDP a lot more easier!)

...but, alas, with some new and awesome features came some really nasty bugs, never-before-seen problems and just plain weird things - the most notorious of them is the permanent fadeout that occurs if you search some of the towns ransacked/pillaged by the dream stans - after the message about the town plays the screen still stays black( and you also can't exit the first cave. bruh. the whole game has a pink/fuchsia tone to it, and i don't mean the themes but it's just that the screen color doesn't change from violet after the prologue for some reason and stays on until the end of the game. Jasmine has a hat (the same one that Chris has) in her field sprite but her portrait shows her without it - not much of a bug but still pretty weird) the "Pissed Off" state (basically berserk state) that Jasmine has during the first battle with the strong dream stan lacks a space in its lines - you should put a blank space in the beginning of each so that they don't become conjoined with the actor's name!) and, finally, there is a game-breaking glitch (and also a working speedrun strategy) with the ship - while moving diagonally on it you can pass through the gaps in the water and this way you can reach the Dungeon of the Ten Sages (and possibly some other locations) as early as having Jazz in your party!

and that's all i have to say about the redux version - there's a lot of good things to it, but also some problems that need to be adressed and bugs that need to be taken care of. Jasmine, you did a great job with this, and even with all of the bugs the game plays well and is just as enjoyable, if not better, than its original version!) i wish you best of luck while developing that new project you've been posting about and i'll see you next time, once a demo for the aforementioned project is released so i can check it out and leave a mouthful review, like this one!) take care!
